Radosav Petrovic could be set for his Rovers debut after joining the club earlier this week for an undisclosed fee from Partizan Belgrade. However, Steve Kean will need to act quickly to ensure the Serbian international will registered for the game in time.

Wolves have three players available for their debuts at Ewood Park, including Roger Johnson, Jamie O’Hara and Dorus De Vries. Striker Kevin Doyle is a doubt for the visitors after picking up a late pre-season knock.

DID YOU KNOW?

The two sides have met 96 times in their history, with Rovers only slightly ahead with 39 wins to Wolves’ 36 and there have been 21 draws.

Blackburn and Wolves last had an opening day meeting in 2003, when Blackburn ran out 5-1 winners with Andrew Cole inspiring Rovers to a dream start.

The opening day of the season has been a happy one for Rovers in recent years, winning three out of their last five fixtures. Wolves on the other hand are slow starters, they have won just one opening day fixture in the their last 12 attempts.

Both sides won their opening day clashes last season, Blackburn beating Everton 1-0 and Wolves getting past Stoke 2-1.

Blackburn have not lost in the last eight meetings between these two sides, and they took maximum points in both clashes last season – scoring six goals in the process.

Wolves have not won at Ewood Park since 1992 so will be hoping to end that long wait for a victory in Lancashire. However, last season they were only triumphant on three occasions on their travels, whilst Rovers won seven of their home fixtures.

Blackburn have won two of their pre-season matches – recording victories over Kilmarnock and Kitchee from Hong Kong.

After being defeated in their first pre-season game against Crewe Wolves won the other five games of their warm-up schedule, including a 2-0 victory over Celtic.
