Bets of the Week 05.-06. 02.2011.

05.03. (Sat) 16:00 West Ham United - Stoke City
West Ham will be desperate to follow up their excellent victory last weekend against Liverpool with another three points against Stoke. For me, the key to their survival will be scoring goals as they will always be leaky defensively. They have plenty of attacking options with the likes of Ba, Cole in good form and will be confident of defeating a Stoke side who were poor on Monday night against WBA. The 2.15 on a home victory is worth a bet in what should be an entertaining match.
Match Odds: West Ham 2.15, Draw 3.20, Stoke 3.10
Tip: West Ham to win @ 2.15

05.03. (Sat) 16:00 Peterborough United - Exeter City
Two weeks ago our tip on many goals in a Peterborough game didn’t work – there were “only” 3 scored, but that shouldn’t make us afraid to try again. The team with the league’s best attack and second-worst defence is always bound to produce a goal-fest, and versus Exeter the chances are even better, since the hosts are also exhibiting a nice attacking style.
There is an average of 3.25 goals in Exeter’s away games and an amazing 5.13 goals a game ratio in the Posh’s home matches. Given the good form of Peterborough since Darren Ferguson’s return, a simple bet on home win is also an option to consider.
Match Odds: Peterborough 1.73, Draw 4.00, Exeter 4.33
Tips: Over 4.5 goals (4.33), Peterborough to win (1.73), Peterborough to score 4 or more (6.00).

05.03. (Sat) 19:00 Lorient - Nancy Lorraine
We turn our attention to France this week as Lorient take on Nancy. Unbeaten in 12 games at home in a run that stretches back to last September they take on Nancy who are enduring a poor run losing four of their last five.
Nancy are just above the relegation zone and will have a task on their hands to get anything from this game. Lorient have held their own against plenty of the French elite this season and the lines are inviting on them racking up another three points. Punters can opt for the -0.75 handicap but a straightforward home win looks a safe bet at 1.80.
Match Odds: Lorient 1.80, Draw 3.25, Nancy 4.20
Tip: Lorient to win @ 1.80

06.03. (Sun) 14:30 Liverpool - Manchester United
One of the biggest matches of the Premier League season is the north west derby between Liverpool and Manchester United.  Last time at Anfield it was Liverpool who came out on top as 2-0 winners. This season United’s away record isn’t perhaps as good as you would expect from a team sitting on top of the table.  Their 4-0 win at Wigan on Saturday was just their fourth League victory on the road (Blackpool have won five) and they have previously struggled in high-profile fixtures, having drawn 0-0 at Tottenham and Manchester City and were defeated at Chelsea this week. This could be another tough away day for United.
Match Odds: Liverpool 2.70, Draw 3.20, Man Utd 2.40
Tips: Back Draw @ 3.20 / Back Under 2.5 goals @ 1.60

05-03-2011 22:00 Atletico Madrid - Villarreal

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Of the last seven meetings between the two sides, Villarreal have come out on top five times, scoring at least twice in every one of the seven matches
  • Atleti have never failed to score at home to Villarreal in La Liga.
  • The Yellow Submarines have managed only one win in their last five away league fixtures, whilst Atletico have failed to win their last three home games.
  • That statistic could actually work in the Rojiblancos' favour, as they have not gone four home games without a win since 2006.
  • Jose Antonio Reyes has tallied three goals in Atletico's last three home games.
  • Giuseppe Rossi, meanwhile, has four league goals against Atletico, making them his joint favourite side to score against.

05-03-2011 20:45 Juventus - Milan

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Juventus are in seventh in Serie A with 41 points from 27 matches, two points off a Europa League slot and seven behind Lazio, who are fourth.
  • The Bianconeri have lost four of their last six league encounters, suffering 2-0 losses to Lecce and Bologna in their past two matches.
  • The Old Lady have won just one of their last four matches against Milan - that was at the San Siro in the reverse fixture in October.
  • Luigi Del Neri's side have alternated between a win and a defeat in their last six matches. If that pattern is to continue, then Juventus should win on Saturday evening.
  • Juve have conceded 21 goals in 13 league encounters at the Olimpico this season - more than Cesena, Brescia and Bari have at home, all of whom are in the bottom three and have played a game more.
  • Milan's 3-0 victory over Napoli at San Siro on Monday night saw them go five points clear at the top of the table in Serie A and station themselves on 58 points from 27 matches.
  • Having conceded 20 goals so far, Massimiliano Allegri's side have the best defensive record. With 49 goals scored they are joint-top scorers in the Italian first division.
  • The Rossoneri have not lost in their last 10 Serie A games.
  • Milan have collected 28 points in 13 away matches, the most so far in the league. However, they neither hold the best defensive or offensive stats on the road.
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal against Juventus at San Siro earlier this season was his first against his former club.
LAST MEETING

October 30, 2010: Milan 1-2 Juventus

Juventus conjured up a 2-1 victory over Milan at San Siro in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Fabio Quagliarella gave the Bianconeri the lead in the 24th minute and Alessandro Del Piero doubled the advantage on 66 minutes with his record-breaking 179th goal in Serie A.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled a goal back for the hosts with eight minutes of normal time remaining in what was his first goal against Juve.

05-03-2011 20:00 Barcelona - Zaragoza

DID YOU KNOW?

  • These two sides have met 56 times in Barcelona, and Zaragoza have only been able to win twice, both meetings finishing 1-0 in their favour.
  • The last of these victories was a staggering 46 years ago.
  • Zaragoza have achieved a single away win this season, at 19th placed Malaga.
  • In sharp contrast, Barcelona have won 11 of their 13 home games so far this season, losing one and drawing one.
  • Zaragoza can draw hope from the fact that Barcelona's one home defeat was to Hercules, a side below Zaragoza in the table.
  • Lionel Messi has scored in his last three appearances at the Nou Camp, and boasts a great scoring record against Zaragoza, scoring five times against them in his last two outings.
  • Pep Guardiola may not be available to sit on the sidelines for Barcelona. After suffering pain in recent days, the club announced on Thursday that the tactician has been diagnosed with a herniated disc.
LAST MEETING

Barcelona were able to walk away with the three points, thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi, with the Argentine netting a goal in either half.
