Toffees Coming To The Boil

October provided a good month for David Moyes' team. Following a less than impressive start to the season, the Toffees recorded three wins out of four in the month of October, including a 2-0 win over rivals Liverpool.

The upturn in Everton's fortunes has dragged them from the lower echelons of the Premier League to being in touching distance of Roberto Manicini's cash giants Manchester City.

Moyes will be hoping his side can continue their upward trajectory at Bloomfield Road on Saturday as they face an attacking Blackpool side buoyed by a victory over Premier League dark horses West Brom on Monday night.

The Tangerines sit in ninth in the Premier League, level on points with David Moyes' side, following an impressive start to the season for the side derided by many as relegation certainties.

After a spirited defeat against Manchester City and wins over both Liverpool and Newcastle, manager Ian Holloway is still adamant that his side have to remain focussed on just avoiding relegation until 40 points have been amassed.

Tangerines Buoyed By Home Win

On Monday night Blackpool recorded their first Premier League home win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Roberto Di Matteo's West Brom.

The victory marked the end of a poor run of four defeats in five games as well as the more historic factor of the Seasiders gaining their first top flight win on home soil since 1971.

That victory in 1971 came agaisnt Crystal Palace as the men in Tangerine cruised to a 3-1 win in the April of that year.

Following the win over West Brom, Blackpool defender Ian Evatt has spoken of the extra confidence that the win has instilled into the Blackpool side, allowing them to approach the Everton game without the burden of needing to record a first home win.

"We've got the monkey off our back and we can now go into the game full of confidence," Evatt told the Blackpool Gazette.

The centre-back also shared his belief that the side can record back to back home wins against David Moyes' side on Saturday.

"Hopefully we can get another three points," he concluded.

TEAM NEWS

Blackpool

Ian Holloway's attacking side have no fresh injury worries for the visit of David Moyes' Everton to Bloomfield Road.

Defender and occasional defensive midfielder Alex Baptiste will miss out with a lengthy knee injury, although the Tangerines are yet to announce a comeback date for the former Mansfield player.

The only other worry for Holloway is the long term injury sustained by young Irish striker Billy Clarke at the start of the Premier League season. Clarke, who is set to return towards the end of the campaign in May, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the summer.

Possible starting XI: Gilks; Eardley, Cathcart, Evatt, Crainey; Grandin, Adam, Vaughan; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney.

Everton
The Goodison Park side have improved their form coming into this north west encounter but will find themselves without two important midfielders as they aim to defeat Blackpool.

Both Leon Osman and the Belgian Marouane Fellaini are set to return from ankle and hamstring injuries later in November.

A boost for David Moyes, however, will be the fact that the long term injury to promising midfielder Jack Rodwell should have run it's course by the end of November as the England U-21 international looks to recover from an ankle injury.

Possible starting XI: Howard; Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Coleman, Heitinga, Arteta, Pienaar; Cahill; Yakubu.

Prediction
David Moyes' men should have too much for this Blackpool side as the quality of their midfield, featuring the likes of Mikel Arteta and Tim Cahill, will be able to assert themselves on the affair at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool, however, blessed with attacking potential, will be able to force a promising attack through the Everton defence as the pace of Luke Varney and the delivery of Charlie Adam may gift them a goal.
