06-11-2010 18:00 Bologna - Lecce

Struggling For Survival

Bologna are second from bottom in Serie A at the moment with just eight points from nine matches. Encouragingly for the Felsinei, there are three other sides with as many points as them.

However, Bologna are in a wretched run of form at the moment and cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to make things better for themselves soon. Last weekend they went down 2-0 to Cagliari in Sardinia and have yet to win in the league since late September.

Interestingly, Alberto Malesani’s side have yet to lose at home this campaign, having won one and drawn the other three league fixtures they have played at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

Safe But Only For Now

Of the three promoted sides in Serie A this season, Lecce seem to be doing the best. At the moment they are 12th in the league standings with 11 points from nine matches.

Lecce lost 2-0 to Roma in Rome last weekend but prior to that they had won two games in a row in all competitions. But the Lupi have a torrid away form – they have yet to register a victory on their travels, having lost four of the five matches.

Furthermore, Lecce are just three points above the relegation zone and could be sucked into the mire if they don’t remain cautious to their situation.

TEAM NEWS

Bologna

Esposito is out injured for the home side, who are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation with Meggiorini and Di Vaio as the two strikers.

Lecce

Reginiussen and Fabiano are unavailable because of injuries and Olivera is suspended.

Prediction
This is a tough game to call as both sides know the significance of this relegation six-pointer. It could either way and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it ends in a draw.
