 Hamburger je ponovio prošlogodišnji uspeh kada su takodje stigli do 1/2 finala tadašnjeg Kupa UEFA i eliminisani su u dvomeču sa Verderom posle pobede u gostima 1-0 poraženi su kući 2-3 a ove godine imaju priliku za korak dalje budući da se finale igra na njihovom stadionu eto još jednog motiva .
