SPL Opta Facts – 24-25 September


Dunfermline v Rangers
Dunfermline have won only one of their 28 SPL meetings with Rangers.
Two of the last three SPL clashes between the sides at Dunfermline have ended in a draw.
Rangers have only ever lost twice to a newly-promoted side in the SPL: vs Livingstone in April 2002 and St Johnstone in March 2010.
It is seven years since a side conceded fewer goals in their opening seven SPL games than Rangers this season (three).
The Gers have kept 13 clean sheets in their last 17 league matches, going unbeaten in this period.
Rangers have conceded just one goal in their last 11 away games in the SPL (a record), winning all of these.
Celtic are the only other side to have won 11 consecutive away games in the competition, winning 16 on the spin in 2004.
The Pars have scored exactly twice in their last three league matches, but have also conceded at least twice in all of these.
Dunfermline are yet to win at home in the SPL this season (three draws, one defeat).
Only once before in their SPL history have Dunfermline netted more goals (11) after seven games than they have managed this season, in 2002/03 they had scored 13.

Celtic v Inverness Caledonian Thistle
The Bhoys have won only one of their last four league meetings with Caley Thistle.
Inverness' draw in their last match at Celtic was the first time they had taken a point at Parkhead in the SPL after seven defeats previously.
Pat McCourt scored two goals in three meetings with Inverness last season.
Only once before have Celtic had a poorer start to the season in the SPL (nine points from seven games in 1998/99).
Caley Thistle's five points from eight games is their worst SPL start since their first campaign in 2004/05 (four points).
The Bhoys have won 12 of their last 13 league matches at home.
Celtic have scored at least four times in four of their last five home league games.
Inverness are the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in the SPL this season.
Caley Thistle have conceded three goals in three of their four games on the road this season, shipping two in the other.

Hibernian v Dundee United
Hibs have won just two of their last 16 league meetings with the Terrors.
United have scored on their last 10 league visits to Easter Road.
Hibernian have only once before had fewer points after seven SPL games than this season (five): three in 2002/03.
Garry O'Connor has scored four of Hibs' five goals in the SPL this season.
Hibernian have won only one of their last 13 league games.
Hibs have not won at home in the league since February (eight games since): they could match their all-time longest winless run at home in the SPL in this game (nine games in February 2002).
United have won only one of their last six league away games.

Motherwell v Aberdeen
Motherwell are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings with the Dons.
Three of the last four SPL clashes between the sides at Motherwell have ended 1-1.
Motherwell have only lost more SPL games at home to Rangers and Celtic (13 each) than Aberdeen (10).
The Steelmen have scored within the first 15 minutes of three of their last four league games at home to Aberdeen.
In terms of points accrued, only once before have Motherwell had a better start to an SPL season (14 points from eight games in 2004/05).
This is the Dons' poorest start to an SPL campaign since 1999/00 when they had taken just one point from their opening eight matches.
Aberdeen are yet to score on the road in the league this season. They have never before failed to score in five straight SPL away games.
In all, the Dons have only scored in two league games this season.
Motherwell have lost their last two league games at home by the same scoreline (0-3).

St Mirren v Kilmarnock
The Buddies have lost their last three league meetings with Kilmarnock.
St Mirren have only once scored more than a single goal in an SPL match against Killie (2-1 at Kilmarnock in August 2009).
The Saints have only averaged fewer goals per game against Celtic (0.53) than they have against Kilmarnock (0.62) in the SPL.
Only once before (16 in 2005/06) have Killie bagged more SPL goals after seven matches than this season (11).
This is St Mirren's lowest-scoring start to an SPL season (four in eight games), but also their best defensively (seven goals conceded).
The Saints have failed to score in their last three league games at home: the last time they failed to score in four in a row was in August 2008.
Only Steven Naismith (six) has bagged more SPL goals than Paul Heffernan (five) this season.
Kilmarnock are without a win in their last seven league games on the road.

St Johnstone v Hearts
St Johnstone have only won one of their 10 SPL games at home to Hearts.
The Saints took only one point from their three league clashes against the Jambos last season.
St Johnstone have a lower win % at home to Hearts (10%) than any other side they have met at least seven times there in the SPL.
Just one of the Saints' nine points in the league this season have come at home.
St Johnstone are unbeaten in four in the league, keeping three clean sheets in these.
Hearts have conceded just one goal in their last five league matches combined.
The Jambos are without a win in 11 games on the road in the league, since February.
Hearts and Rangers are the only two SPL sides who are yet to score from outside the area in the league this season
