Patrick Owomoyela, Julian Koch and Mohamed Zidan definitely miss the game on Saturday as they are recuperating from injuries, while Croatian attacker Ivan Perisic is suspended after his red card against Werder Bremen in the last round.

Similarly to the situation after the defeat to Olympique de Marseille, Jurgen Klopp is likely to bench some of the players who underperformed in midweek. Shinji Kagawa, Neven Subotic and Marcel Schmelzer are the prime candidates to be axed from the starting line-up, following persistent poor form.

Miro Varvodic, Kevin McKenna, Pedro Geromel, Andrezinho and Petit definitely miss the game for Koln as they are are recovering from injuries. Milivoje Novakovic is doubtful for the match, but Stale Solbbaken is likely to keep the formation utilised in the win over Hannover and field a single striker in the form of Lukas Podolski.

  • The Billy Goats have won three of their last four games, ascending to 10th place in the table.
  • Koln's Lukas Podolski has never had a better start to the season, bagging six goals in nine games so far in the Bundesliga.
  • Dortmund have a perfect record against the Billy Goats under Jurgen Klopp, winning every single tie in the last two seasons.
  • BVB are still running more than any team in the league, managing 120 km with just 10 men after Perisic's sending off early in the second half against Werder Bremen.
  • Dortmund have lost just once to Koln since the turn of the millennium.

Prediction
Jurgen Klopp's men will be motivated after the catastrophe against Olympiakos and will be determined to give it all in order to dispell the growing in popularity idea that BVB are a one-time wonder. With some of the underperformin players set to be benched on Saturday, expected a rejuvenated Dortmund to thriumph over Koln, who have inpredictable on the road this season, and have been deprived of key figures at the back for this game.
